The native inhabitants of the region were the Shoshone and Bannock and their ancestors clearly used the site. However the use of the site extends thousands of years back before we can identify Shoshone-Bannock artifact styles. Regardless of whoever these early occupants were, we know they were Native Americans who were the ancestors to one or more modern tribes.
