Weston Canyon Rockshelter was excavated in 1969 and 1970 by a crew of students and staff from Idaho State University B. Robert Butler. The excavations resulted in two graduate student theses at ISU: The Natural and Cultural Stratigraphy of the Weston Canyon Rockshelter, Southeastern Idaho by Mario P. Delisio (1970); and Weston Canyon Rockshelter: Big-Game Hunting in Southeastern Idaho by Susanne J. Miller (1972). The Miller thesis is a more complete and comprehensive description of the excavation results.
