The earliest evidence for human use around 12,500 years ago consists of the heavily butchered remains of mammoth in association with a small fire hearth and several broken spear points that were probably used to kill the mammoth. Also in these early deposits are the bones of camel and dire wolf which all became extinct as the climate warmed at the end of the Ice Age. Later deposits are dominated by the butchered remains of bison although pronghorn antelope, badger, and fox also are present.
