The Wasden Caves consist of three collapsed lava tubes: Owl Cave (which became the focus of archaeological excavation), Dry Cat Cave and Coyote Cave. These caves are approximately 18 miles west of Idaho Falls at the foot of Kettle Butte in an area of exposed basalt flows with sagebrush and grass growing in areas that have adequate soil.
