The Wasden Site consists of a couple of caves in a lava flow on the Snake River Plain west of Idaho Falls. One cave, Owl Cave, became the focus of archaeological excavations beginning in 1965 under the direction of B. Robert Butler of Idaho State University. He summarizes the archaeology of Wasden and many other sites in A Guide to Understanding Idaho Archaeology (3rd edition) published by the Idaho Museum of Natural History in 1978.
