People were probably attracted to the Sheepeater site for summer camping because of the wide range of natural resources in the immediate area. The area is relatively flat and is adjacent to a creek. Forests surround the site and numerous meadows are nearby. These factors support hunting and gathering activities plus they attract big game which come to graze on the relatively lush vegetation. In addition salmon, trout and fresh water mussels are available in the local creeks. The relatively high density of artifacts recovered during the excavations document that the local resources were attractive and could support periodic camping activities.
