The big game bones found in Bobcat Cave suggest that hunting parties were in the area and they encountered both bison and antelope. The hunting parties must have passed through a region containing elk allowing them to collect elk antler tines to use as ice pick in the cave (although no evidence of the storage of elk meat was recovered). These tines could have been from shed antler not necessarily from the killing of mature elk. There is no evidence of actual camping in the cave and there is no real suitable place to camp (the cave floor near the mouth is solid roof fall rock and no level places exist for a camp fire or a sleeping area). Limited amounts of water would have been available from melting ice recovered deep in the cave.
