Baker Caves I and III are located on the Wapai lava flow east of Minidoka, Idaho, on the Snake River Plain. They are a short distance in from the edge of the flow which, at the nearest point, forms a bay-like configuration. It could be speculated that the bison where driven into the bay and corralled against the lava edge where they could be dispatched with bows and arrows. There is no permanent seasonal source of water nearby so the location is not ideal for long-term camping.
