Redfish Overhang was probably used mostly as a big game hunting camp although the occupants probably also fished for trout and salmon in the nearby Salmon River along with collecting berries and greens from the local plants. The main reason they would camp at the overhang is the protection it provided from rain, wind, and sun. The overhang also has an excellent view which is good for watching for game animals.
