Corn Creek is located just within the eastern edge of the traditional use area of the Nez Perce Tribe and the styles of artifacts support the use by them and their ancestors. A few items, however, indicate that the site was occasionally visited by people from the Northern Shoshone homeland. It is equally as possible that the people using the site interacted and traded with adjacent groups or occasionally traveled long distances. This is documented by the presence of artifacts made from obsidian originating far to the east near Yellowstone National Park. The vast majority of stone artifacts, however, were made from local non-obsidian materials or from an obsidian source to the southwest that was frequented by the Nez Perce.
